BARCLAY, Clifford Ray (Tip, Tippy) (Age 90) November 11, 1920-" December 18, 2010 Clifford was born in Los Angeles, CA but raised in Spokane, WA to Elmer and Marcelene Barclay of Eastern Washington. Clifford was a widower of Eve Bernice Barclay (Wilson) of Spokane and Loon Lake, WA and is survived by his four children Fran Allen (Robert), Susan Hooper (Dave), Pat Barclay and Michael Barclay. All children were born and still living in Spokane. Clifford retired from the Spokane Police Department as a detective. During that time he was lead security for the "All City" dances in the 1950's and 1960's. He also worked for the Washington State Gambling Commission and was a proud veteran for the United States Marine Corp stationed in the Pacific during WWII. Clifford was also known as "Tip" or "Tippy" due to his brother, Durant, not being able to pronounce his name. Tip followed him all the way through his career with the police dept. and life. Clifford was a lover of golf, traveling with his wonderful long time companion Betty Knott, cards, bargain shopper extraordinaire (need pickles or mayo let us know). He selflessly donated years with his wife to the Loon Lake Pantry, picking up and distributing food to the less fortunate of that area. Clifford was best known as a strong and loving father and the "BEST" grandfather that ever lived! His home at Loon Lake was the center of some of the greatest memories his family has. Summers skiing/swimming, barbeques, fireworks, endless popsicles and winters skating/sledding, bon fires to warm their feet, Christmas, great food, singing/dancing and Kijafa!!! This man who surrounded us with love, safety and strength will be missed greatly! Our family would like to thank the staff at Holy Family Hospital for being so kind and thoughtful. God bless and Merry Christmas to you all! Visitation will be held Wednesday December 22nd, 9:00am to 5:00pm and Thursday December 23rd, 9:00am to 1:00pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Thursday December 23rd, 2:00pm at RIPLINGER FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORY, 4305 N. DIVISION, with a celebration of life to follow at West Central Community Center, 1603 N. Belt. There will also be a small burial service Monday December 27th, 1:00pm at Fairmount Memorial Park.
