Monday, January 17th, 2011 Frances M. Petefish, 93, went to be with her beloved husband Andrew in heaven. Frances was born the eldest of four children to William and Stella Craver in 1917 in Glendive MT. She moved with her family to Chewelah WA in 1929. She went to live with her Aunt Edith and Uncle Reinard in Spokane and then her Aunt Lena to finish her education. She graduated from North Central High School in 1936 and then completed Kinman Business College. She started working for her uncle's service station where she met the love of her life Andy when he delivered ice to the station. They were married in 1940 and had a wonderful life together traveling the world and enjoying their cabin at Priest Lake ID until his death in 2003. Frances worked for the Social Security Administration for 31 years and made long term friendships that continued to this day, meeting once a month for lunch. She was a talented bridge player and again developed long lived friendships with her bridge club for over 60 years. Frances spent many of her retirement years as a service league volunteer at Deaconess Medical Center in many capacities. She was a founding member of the Northwood Presbyterian Church and past president of the Spokane Business and Professional Woman's Club. She was a an avid golfer enjoying the greens at Wandermere. Even as she was slowly losing her sight, she could not be kept down. She lost her driving privileges several years ago, but mastered the STA system like a pro. She leaves behind her loving sister Genevieve, niece Marcy Beckwith, nephew Nathan Dodson (Vicki), Bill Craver (Christy), Mark Nelson (Theresa), Gene Petefish (Gail), Dean Miller and many great and great-great-nieces and nephews. She was a special lady and a hostess worthy of Martha Stewart status. She was much loved and will be so missed. Visitation will be tomorrow, Friday, between 9:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday, between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. at the Riplinger Funeral Home, 4305 N Division, Spokane, WA. Graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, January 24th, 2011 at the Sunset Mausoleum Chapel on the grounds of Fairmount Memorial Park Cemetery, followed by a Memorial Service at 12:30 P.M. at Northwood Presbyterian Church, 6721 N Monroe, Spokane, WA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Northwood Presbyterian Church or Hospice of Spokane be made in Frances' honor.
