Our cherished wife, mother, grandmother and friend entered into rest on January 29, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer. Carol was born January 6, 1945 in Berkeley, California to Wallace and Iva Klein. On July 27, 1974 she married Ron Schaller, her “Mr. Bear” and was blessed with the lights of her life, her sons Eric and Steven. Carol resided in California until her move to Spokane, Washington in June 2000. She used her skills as an administrative assistant at various businesses throughout her adult life and all who knew her recognized the beautiful flourish of her handwriting. Carol loved gardening, sewing, baking cookies for her boys, her Wednesday morning bowling league, and shopping, especially with her step-daughter, Dorian, and granddaughter, Danica, at the Mall of America when she visited them in Minnesota. Carol will be greeted by her angels in heaven, her father Wally, her sister Ellen, and her brother Jim. She is survived by her loving husband of 37 years Ron; her beloved mother, Iva Klein; her sons Eric and Steven Schaller; brother, David Klein; step-daughter, Dorian (Perry)Chalmers; and granddaughter, Danica Chalmers. She also leaves behind nieces Brianne, Jillian, Kaitlin, Mollie, and Kelsea Klein and nephew Michael Davidson. Carol will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she touched. The Schaller family wishes to thank all the wonderful caregivers at Cancer Care Northwest for their caring and compassionate support, the staff at Holy Family Hospital, and the many friends and neighbors who were so supportive during Carol’s battle with her illness. A memorial service will be conducted at the Riplinger Funeral Home 4305 N. Division in Spokane on Friday February 11th at 1:00 PM followed immediately by a Celebration of Carols life at the Old Country Buffet, 5504 N. Division Street in Spokane. The family requests, that in lieu of flowers, any gifts or contributions be made to the American Cancer Society 920 W. Washington Spokane, WA 99201 in her name.
