Mary C. Chadwick “Mare, Gram” Age 78 Mary Chadwick passed away, suddenly, February 24, at Holy Family Hospital. She was born May 27, 1932 to Walter and Fanny Currin in Genesee, Idaho. Mary was raised in Genesee until moving to Cheney, WA where she attended Eastern Washington College, obtaining her degree and teaching certificate. She married Ron Chadwick in 1953. After Ron’s service in the Army, they returned to Spokane, where Mary began a long career in teaching at Whitman Elementary. Mary had a passion for teaching and will be remembered for the profound, positive impact she had on the hundreds of students that passed through her classroom. A hip replacement in 1988 forced her retirement. In the summers between family trips to Southern Idaho and Nevada, Mary relished her time at Loon Lake playing pinochle and spending time with family and friends. She found a particular joy in watching her beloved grandchildren grow in to the fine young people they are today. She will be missed dearly by all family and friends. Mary is survived by her husband, Ron Chadwick, daughter Vicki Chadwick Chervenak (Tim), son Ron Chadwick (Laurie), four grandchildren and one great grandchild. Services will be Friday March 4, at 11 a.m. at Riplinger Funeral Home. The family would like to thank the Spokane Fire and paramedics as well as the medical staff at Holy Family for their efforts, compassion and understanding. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the American Heart Association Go Red for Women.
