Edward M. Jennings

Ed was born Jan. 17, 1931 in Hunters, Wa. He graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 1949 and joined the U.S. Navy in 1952. Ed served in the Korean War as an engine room mechanic aboard the LST 887. After discharge from the Navy in 1956 he returned to Spokane and worked for Columbia Electric. Ed also drove across the country for the Mayflower Moving Company. He was hired by School District 81 in 1957 and retired in 1992. On November 29th, 1958 Edward married Gerry, his wife of 52 years. Edward was an avid outdoor sportsman who loved to fish, hunt and camp. He also loved to read, solve crossword puzzles and collect books and magazines. After he retired Ed and Gerry served as campground hosts for the U.S. Forest Service. Ed passed away at age 80 on St. Patrick's Day, March 17. 2011. He is survived by his wife Gerry, brothers David and Roy, sisters Beverly, Jane, Colleen and Patrica, sons William, Macintosh and Mark, stepdaughters Peggy her four children and four grandchildren, Marcia her two children and five grandchildren, stepsons Oscar his eight children and twenty two grand children and nine great grandchildren, Dean and daughter Rachel. Edward Marion Jennings will be laid to rest the first day of Spring, Monday, March 21, 2011 at the Spokane Memorial Gardens.
