Marshall L. Witherell

September 24, 1934 — December 17, 2010

Passed away December 17, 2010 following a brief illness with cancer surroun-ded by family and friends. He was born September 24th, 1934 in Somerville, MA to Chet and Jean Witherell. During the Korean War, Marshall served in the U.S. Coast Guard. Looking for a milder climate, he moved from the east coast to the west coast, becoming involved in electronic sales prior to relocating in Spokane where he was a resident for forty years. An avid interest in coaching and youth soccer led to his business ventures of Sports Center Northwest and Just a Kick. Marshall was an accomplished and talented artist in reconstructing replicas of Coast Guard ships and model scale railroads. He also collected and refurbished vintage cars including a Model T. He was not only proud of his Scottish heritage but also of his Boston roots. Marshall was a consummate and loyal Boston Red Sox, Patriot and Celtic fan. Marshall is survived by his wife of 41 years, Lois; his children, Brenda Mitchell, Randy, Robert and Nichole Witherell; sister, Sheila Goldrick, Cape Cod, MA; cousin, Fay Wands of Scotland. The family requests memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society earmarked for "Coaches vs. Cancer/Camp Good Times". Memorial service will be Friday, May 20, 2011 at 2:00pm at RIPLINGER FUNERAL HOME, 4305 N. DIVISION, SPOKANE, WA.
