Patricia M. Manning

Patricia Marie Wayerski Manning was born January 17, 1927 in Spokane, WA to Agnes Johnson Wayerski and Joseph R. Wayerski. She had a brother who preceded her in death. Patricia was raised in Millwood, WA and attended Catholic schools. She graduated from Holy Names Academy. One of her early jobs was with P.M. Jacoy in downtown Spokane. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper. She married John Daniel Cecil and lived in California for a time while Mr. Cecil was in the American Armed Service. Patricia returned to Spokane and to college, obtaining her teaching certificate. She taught English, French, Theatre Arts, and History at Riverside High School. She later married Jon Russell Manning and was with him for 32 years until his death. Jon was active in the Masonic Fraternity and Patricia joined Adelphi Chapter No. 188, Order of Eastern Star where she served as many appointed officers and as Worthy Matron with her husband, Jon, as Worthy Patron in 1992. They later affiliated with White Rose Chapter No. 230, Order of Eastern Star where they again served as Worthy Matron and Worthy Patron. Patricia became a member of Spokane Chapter No. 163, Oder of Eastern Star by merger of White Rose Chapter with Spokane Chapter. She was a member of Bethel Shrine No. 6, Order of White Shrine of Jerusalem and she served as Worthy High Priestess with her husband, Jon, as Watchman of Shepherds in 2001. She was a member of Jewel of the Valley Court No. 50, Order of the Amaranth and served several offices including Prelate and Trustee. Patricia was a member of El Karnak Temple No. 6, Daughters of the Nile where she served many years as treasurer. She was also a member of Beauciants, Women of the Moose, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. Graveside service will be Wednesday, May 25, at Fairmount Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial service at St. Marks Evangelical Lutheran Church 316 East 24thAvenue, Spokane, WA 99203 (24th Ave. and Grand Blvd.) at 1:00 PM Wednesday, May 25th, 2011. Memorial contributions may be made in Pat’s name to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, El Karnak Temple No. 6 Daughters of the Nile Convalescent Relief Fund 1108 W. Riverside, Spokane, WA 99201, the Shriner’s Hospital for Children 911 W. Fifth Ave. Spokane, WA 99204 or to The Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery 1004 E. Eighth Ave. Spokane, WA 99202.
