Dorothy Miller, born Dorothy Natalie Becker, peacefully passed away June 17th, 2011. Dorothy was born December 21st, 1920 in Hillyard, Washington to Gustaf and Eveline Becker. She was the youngest of ten children. In the winter of 1939 Dorothy met Abe Miller at the German Hall where they shared their love of dancing and later married June 28th, 1940 and continued to shared a life together for another 66 years. They had two sons, Dick James Miller and Kevin James Miller. She was preceded in death by her husband, Abe, and her son, Dick. Dorothy is survived by her youngest son Kevin and his wife Sarah, granddaughter Zoe, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. In the early 1950's Dorothy and Abe opened an amusement business on Wellesley & Division, which also became the site of the original Panda Restaurant. They later opened additional Panda restaurants on Northwest Blvd and 3rd & Division. In 1966 the 3rd and Division Panda became Dick's Hamburgers named after their eldest son. The restaurant, still in the family, is currently owned by Kevin and close family friend as well as longtime operator, Lynda Peterson. Dorothy will be remembered by her many travels throughout the world but mostly for her love of all things Hawaiian. Her smile brought happiness and she will be missed by those that loved her, in particular, Kevin, Sarah and Zoe, Lynda, Tamiko and Naliesha, Mary, Annette, Summer, Kim and Chelsie. Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 21, 2011 from 9:00AM – 8:00PM at RIPLINGER FUNERAL HOME 4305 N. DIVISION SPOKANE, WA. No public service will be held at her request. The family requests that any memorials be made to a local food bank or another charity of the donor’s choice.
