Julia Matilda Gausman, nee Fuss, died Thursday, June 30, 2011, at age 92 with family at her side. Julia was married for 60 years to Reverend Carl Gausman who preceded her in death in 2001. She is survived by her sister, Elva Petska of Richmond VA, and by her daughters Kay Wolsborn of Waite Park MN, Lori (Kenneth) Olson of Spokane, and Nancy (David) Howell of Foster City CA, her son Robert (Martha) Gausman of Modesto CA, her brother-in-law Kenneth (Eleanor) Gausman of Wenatchee, and her good friend Donald Kleinknecht of Spokane. Julia was a proud grandmother to four -- John (Ashley) Wolsborn of Fairfax VA, Susan Wolsborn (Eric Hongisto) of Penngrove CA, Jessica (Michael) Russo of Spokane, and Nathaniel Olson of Seattle. Her eight great-grandchildren were the delight of her recent years and often made her laugh and smile. Her spirit lives on as well in her many friendships at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Born and raised in Nebraska, Judy loved Spokane and the Pacific Northwest -- fishing, camping and exploring its mountains, lakes, and wildlife with her family and friends. Although in mid-life she became a church organist and helpmate to Carl's service in the ministry, she had previously risen to many family challenges by developing professional skills in teaching, photography and accounting. She loved music, dancing and solving puzzles. Her quick wit and ready smile made her a charming hostess and formidable game player. A memorial service with reception following will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, 07/09/11, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Spokane. Gifts in memory of her life and joy should be directed to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 7307 North Nevada Street, Spokane, WA 99208-5516.
