Betty L. Evans

October 24, 1925 — August 1, 2011

EVANS, Betty L. (Age 85) - Passed away on August 1, 2011, in her home on West Cleveland in which she lived and raised her family since 1956. Betty was born in Spokane, WA on October 24, 1925 to Herman and Ethel (Witherspoon) Olson. The beautiful brown-eyed, brunette grew up in Spokane and graduated from North Central High School. On June 21, 1946, she married her lifetime sweetheart, Richard G. Evans, who preceded her in death in 2000. Together they raised three children. Until the children were grown she was a stay-at-home mom, but when they "left the nest" she actively sought volunteer opportunities and small jobs. She assisted at the INBC and was an avid blood donor. She also did demonstrations at local grocery stores-deeming her the name "the Pepsi lady!" She was active at church and in Eastern Star, having attained Grand Matron twice in her lifetime. She loved to swim and spent most of her summers at the family cabin at Diamond Lake. She was an excellent seamstress and taught this, somewhat successfully, to her daughter and granddaughters. She is survived by her children (and their spouses), Nancy (Darrell) Collison, Rand (Barb) Evans and Terry Evans of Spokane; her grandchildren, Kathie (Michael) Sherrill, Kimberlee (Tim) Apley and Rick Evans; her step-grandchildren, Amanda (Kevin) Workman, Chris (Melanie) Saeyup and four great grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 5, 2011 at 10:00 AM at RIPLINGER FUNERAL HOME, 4305 N. DIVISION, SPOKANE, WA. Pastor Carl Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, P.O. Box 2472, Spokane, WA 99210-2472.
