Joyce L. Olson

Joyce L. Olson (age 83) entered into rest on August 3, 2011. She was born on October 30, 1927 in Duluth, Minnesota to parents James and Elsie Simpson. She graduated from Denfeld High School in Duluth in 1945. Joyce married her loving husband of 40 years, Henning J. Olson, in 1947 and together they raised three children. Joyce has been a resident of Spokane for the past 58 years. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Sinto,Corbin, and Hillyard Senior Centers. Joyce enjoyed writing poetry, WII bowling, traveling, bowling, clog dancing, playing games, and volunteering. She is survived by her daughter, MaryAnn Slade and her husband Stephen; son, Doug Olson; sister, Jean Brewer; granddaughter, Kim Pilkinton; great grandson, Connor Pilkinton; and great granddaughter, Ashley Pilkinton. Husband, Henning and her daughter Carol preceded her in death. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Sinto Senior Center 1124 W Sinto Ave., Spokane, WA 99201. A memorial service will be held on August 20, 2011 beginning at 2:00PM at Holy Cross Lutheran Church 7307 N. Nevada in Spokane.
