Kyle Blacketer

April 14, 1970 — August 5, 2011

Kyle Blacketer, loving husband, father, son and friend, entered into rest on August 5th after a courageous battle with a lifelong heart condition. A very thoughtful and selfless man, with a sense of humor that would brighten anyone’s day, will be forever remembered and greatly missed. The family would like to express a special thanks and appreciation to the care team at Sacred Heart Hospital’s CICU and 6th Floor for their compassionate care and loving attention to both Kyle and his family during this past year. Kyle was born in Spokane but lived happily in Mullan, ID until college. He attended Montana State University and then graduated from The University of Idaho with a bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications. After college he lived primarily in Spokane where he enjoyed Spokane’s beautiful parks, rivers and people. He was an avid fly fisherman, hunter and outdoorsman. One of his favorite activities was driving in his CJ-7 with his wife, Amanda, and his boys. He came to work at STCU as grounds and maintenance assistant 13 years ago this month. He soon became part of the STCU family, and was selected employee of the year in 2000. He eventually became their assistant manager – facilities. You can see his influence in their beautifully designed Liberty Lake Branch, their current HQ remodel and other buildings. A proud member and officer of BOMA, he used his LEED BD AP+C certification to lobby on behalf of his cherished credit union and help other facilities managers throughout the state. He is survived by his wife of two years, Amanda and their unborn daughter Virginia, who he lovingly called “Ginny.” He is survived also by his two sons Cameron, 12 and Cole, 10 and their mother Colleen Blacketer all of Spokane. His parents, Robert and Bernadine Blacketer, maternal grandmother, Matilda Schaff, and several aunts and uncles both in Thermopolis, WY and Mullan, ID. Also surviving, his sister Kim Johnston and her husband Todd, his brother Victor and wife Connie, and his sister Deon, his four nephews, four nieces and two great-nieces all of Idaho. A viewing of Kyle will be lovingly held at Riplinger Funeral Home Tuesday, August 9 from 5 to 8:30 pm. An intimate family and friends gravesite ceremony will occur at Riverside Memorial Park, August 10 at 11:30 am. Following the internment, for all those who knew and loved Kyle a celebration of Kyle’s beautiful life with reception will be held at Faith Bible Church at 1 pm. Please join us at Faith Bible Church to celebrate and honor this extraordinary man.
