GLEESON, Anna A. (Anderson) (age 88) - Passed away on August 11, 2011 in Spokane, WA. She was born in Trail, B.C. on November 8, 1922 to Fred and Helen Anderson. In 1952, at the age of 30, she became a U.S. Citizen, which she claimed was the “Proudest Day of Her Life”. She enjoyed fishing, picking huckleberries, picking wild mushrooms and basically any activity that involved the outdoors. She also enjoyed canning fruits and vegetables from her garden in her earlier years. Many summers were spent at her cabin on the Pend O’Reille River entertaining her family and friends. Anna was best known as “Grandma Gus” to all of her grandkids, great-grandkids and great-great-grandkids. She loved all children. Anna is preceded in death by her husband, Lyle (Si) Gleeson in 1983 after 41 years of marriage. Also by her son, James Gleeson in 1973, her siblings, Elsie Byrum, Norman Anderson, and Fred Anderson. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Delbert Ackerman; grandsons, Paul (Robin) Ackerman, and Neil (Rhonda) Ackerman; as well as, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Anna loved animals, especially dogs, and also leaves behind her special companion Molly. “ Anna will be dearly missed by all.” A celebration of her life will be held at 5:00 P.M., on August 18, 2011, at the Northwest Wildlife Council, 6116 N Market St., Spokane, WA.
