Roy K. Sumihiro

Roy Karou Sumihiro (age 81) passed away on September 2, 2011 in Spokane, WA with his loving family by his side. He was born on April 8, 1930 in Leavenworth, WA to parents Sam and Hysae Sumihiro. Roy served his country in the US Army and was a member of the 7th Regiment 3rd Division, Wolf Hounds Calvary Division. He received his honorable discharge in 1956. Roy worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad for 43 years before retiring in 1991. He enjoyed bowling at the North Bowl, watching Mariner baseball and old Westerns, and winning at the Casino. Roy is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Peggy; daughter, Melissa Sumihiro; son, Brian Sumihiro; daughter, Kimiko Cross; brother, George Sumihiro all of Spokane; sister, Ginger Tanaka of CA; sister, Ruth Adkins of TX; ten grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Marianne West. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 9, 2011 beginning at 1:00PM at the New Creation Fellowship Church 1515 E. Farwell Rd. Spokane, WA.
