Eva L. Miller

May 26, 1928 — September 23, 2011

Eva was born to Robert and Fay Duncan, in Chewelah, WA., the 11th of 12 children. She was a help to her family during the lean depression years. After graduating at the top of her class in 1944, Eva met and later married her soldier, Gordon E. Miller. She kept busy raising their four children, in addition to doing day care, working part-time, and later full-time. Following her retirement from the Washington State Highway Department, Eva and Gordy enjoyed trips to Australia, Hawaii, and Mexico, often sharing their fond memories with others. She took delight in visits from family and friends, reading, and watching college sports, especially Zag basketball. Eva was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Gordon, and son, Gary R. Miller. She is survived by siblings Harriet Tam, Fay (Jules) Levin, and Donald (Dee) Duncan, daughters Karen (Leonard) Beratto, Kathy (Alan) Anderson, and Vicki Weaver, grandchildren Brian Beratto, Travis (Teresa) Beratto, Todd (Sarah) Miller, Lisa Miller, Janel (Chris) Ross, Karin Anderson, and great-grandchildren Ashley and Jordyn Miller and Cannon and Colson Ross, and numerous nieces and nephews. Eva will be remembered and admired for her fairness, tasty cooking, strong work ethic, and ability to balance her checkbook to the penny. Surely Eva is enjoying the Crown she richly deserves. Services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 1 at 11 a.m. at Riplinger Funeral Home, 4305 N. Division. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice.
