Born August 25, 1921 to Stanley and Katherine, passed away November 7, 2011. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Margaret (Cardle) of Spokane; son Bob (Karen) Witter of Anaheim, CA, son Jim (Sherlyn) Witter of Spokane, son Rick (Angela) Witter of Spokane, daughter Margaret Fallquist of Spokane, and son John (Jackie) of Spokane; his brother, Stan Witter, Jr., of Spokane; as well as 11 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Doris (Witter) Dullanty, and his grandson, Marc. George opened his Spokane dental practice in 1945 and it continues to this day through his son Rick. He was also co-owner of the Spokane Jets hockey organization and served as President during their glory years. In later years, he was able to devote more time to his art and took great joy in fulfilling the increasing requests for his paintings. Although his life's accomplishments were many, our dad was a modest man and we will respect his wishes by not detailing them in an obituary. He was proud of his professional achievements, military service, community involvement, awards and accolades, but it was his role as husband, father, and grandfather that truly mattered most to him. He gave his wife, children, and grandchildren a constant sense of security and unwavering love. Through tough times and good times, he stood faithfully in our corners, picking us off the mat or lifting us onto his shoulders. We never had to fight for this attention, seek out his support, or ask for a hug...he always had plenty of each at the ready. God can give no greater gift than a loving spouse and parent and for that his family feels truly blessed. George will be memorialized in a private family ceremony. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be sent to Hospice of Spokane (PO Box 2215, Spokane, WA 99210) and/or the Father Solanus Guild (www.solanuscasey.org).
