Irene B. Gamble (age 85) entered into rest on November 10, 2011 in Spokane, WA. Irene was born in Drake, ND on February 8, 1926 to parents Conrad, and Caroline Ficker. Her family moved to Spokane when she was just 4 years old. Irene attended local schools and graduated from John Rogers High School in 1942. Also in 1942, she married her loving husband of 55 years Hubert A. Gamble and together they raised their family. Irene worked as a clerk at Woolworths and worked for a time at the Westminister Bakery. She was the owner/manager of the Chautauqua Resort in Spirit Lake, ID for many years. Irene loved to travel, make frequent casino trips, but most of all she enjoyed sharing her Spirit Lake home with family and friends. Irene is survived by her son, Thom Gamble of Livermore, CA; daughter, Bonnie Smesrud of Spokane; two grandchildren; two great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Hubert in 1997; brother, Richard Ficker; and his parents. Irene’s family would like to thank Dr. Michael Kwasman for his loving care, Heidi Bozett and the truly amazing staff at Fairview Assisted Living.
