McLaughlin Jean E. 1923-2011 Our mother peacefully passed away during the late afternoon of November 14 following a short stay at Hospice House of Spokane; of which our family extends a heartfelt thank you and a deep sense of appreciation for their assistance and caring. Mom was a lifelong residence of Spokane, except for a short stint in Bremerton during the war, and graduated from Rogers High School. Shortly following her graduation she married her “high school sweetheart” Jerry McLaughlin (J.D.), our father. Together they enjoyed a wonderful life of personal success, through the growth of Banner Fuel, which is still Family owned, and a zeal for travel and an appreciation for the outdoors. They were equally happy in the big cities as they explored the world, fishing for salmon at remote fishing lodges, hunting the wheat fields of Wilbur, and most of all enjoying the serenity and beauty of Priest Lake where they established a cabin in 1961. They did it all and they did it together. They had no unfulfilled wishes while they were together. Mom was preceded in death by her husband J.D. of 58 years in 1999. She is survived by son, Gary (spouse Mary Lou); daughter, Gail; and son, Mike (spouse Marianne) all of Spokane; five grandchildren, Shawna (Russell), Molly (Hollis), Shelby (Funk), Patrick, and Kirk (McLaughlin); two step grandchildren, Kevin Oberst and Julie Whetzel; five great grandchildren, Ryan and Ryley (Russell), Sawyer (Hollis), Jaymon and Makenzie (Funk). Visitation will be on Friday, November 25 from 9:00AM – 5:00PM at RIPLINGER FUNERAL HOME 4305 N. DIVISION SPOKANE, WA. The family will hold a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Hospice House of Spokane. A special thanks to Fairwood Retirement Center and again to Hospice for all your care. Dad will be glad to see you and dance again to Mack the Knife
