Ronald D. MacDonald (age 74) was born on March 15, 1937 in Greenacres, WA and entered into rest on December 1, 2011 in the Spokane Valley. In 1950, the family moved to California where Ron graduated from Tracy High School in 1955. Ron joined the USAF and served his country proudly from 1956 – 1960. After being discharged from the Air Force, Ron went to work as an office manager for large construction companies. In June of 1968, Ron moved back to Spokane. He worked for construction companies until he found his calling in the restaurant business. Ron worked as a bartender and bar manager for the Elks Club, Playfair Race Track among other places. “Ronnie Mac” as he became known, went on to work for the Chapter Eleven franchise training managers at various locations. He also was the manager of the Silver Grill at the Ridpath Hotel and his last employment was for Northern Quest Casino. Always quick with a joke or a tease, there was hardly any place he didn’t go that someone didn’t know him. His last years were spent at Carol’s Adult Care in the Spokane Valley. Ron was surrounded by family and friends during the past few weeks. The family wishes to thank Carol’s Care and Hospice for the dedication and consideration. Ron is survived by his brothers, Ken MacDonald and Neil MacDonald; sister, Karen Menke; numerous nieces and nephews. A private urn placement will take place at a later date. A “memorial breakfast” will be held in Ron’s honor on December 10, 2011 beginning at 10:00AM at Ringo’s in the Spokane Valley.
