CANN, Goldie - Went to be with our Lord on Dec 2, 2011. Born Goldie Florence Swenson on April 1, 1924 in Sandpoint, ID to Axel and Judith Swenson, Goldie graduated from Moscow High School in 1942. She also married Jack G. Cann on June 30, 1942. They lived in Moscow, ID where she worked at the University of Idaho and held various jobs. They moved to Lewiston, ID where they owned and operated a donut making business. They then moved to Spokane in 1961. She began working as a paraprofessional with Spokane School Dist #81 in 1978, until she retired in 1998 at the age of 72. Goldie relocated in 2004 to Moscow and lived with 2 of her sons, Roland and Larry, until she moved to Glenhaven Adult Family Home in Pullman in 2009. Goldie was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother, Frank Swenson, and a sister-in-law, Fern (Cann) McRell. Goldie is survived by her sons, Roland and Larry both of Moscow, and Jim (Chris) of Priest River, ID; daughters, Vickie Knabe (Gary) of Petersburg, ND, and Lisa Hluboky (John) of Spokane Valley, WA; sister, Fern Brammer (Harold) of Meridian, ID; sister-in-law, Dorothy Swenson of Deary, ID; brother-in-law, Lloyd (Lorraine) Cann of Sedro Wooley, WA, and brother-in-law, John McRell of Libby, MT; eleven grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; and munerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation and gratitude for the loving care, support and friendship from all of the staff at Gritman Adult Day Health (Moscow, ID) and Glenhaven Adult Family Home (Pullman, WA). We would also like to express our appreciation for the support, respect and compassion given to all of us by the staff at Pullman Regional Hospital during this sorrowful time. Visitation will be Thursday, Dec 8th, between 9 AM and 5PM, and again on Friday, Dec 9th, between 9 AM and 8 PM at the funeral home. Funeral service will be held at RIPLINGER FUNERAL HOME, N 4305 DIVISION, SPOKANE, WA, on December 10th, 2011 at 11:00 AM, with interment to follow at Fairmount Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Spokane, WA, immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to Gritman Adult Day Health, a non-profit organization, 225 Palouse River Drive, Moscow, ID 83843.
