Audree A. Gordon

October 9, 1927 — December 7, 2011

GORDON, Audree Allen 1927 -2011 Audree Allen Gordon passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, December 7th, 2011. Born October 9th, 1927, Audree was the first of two daughters. Her parents, Rance and Florence Allen were of pioneering stock in South Dakota and Iowa. Grandfather Dar, himself a much respected rancher, sold the farm and relocated everyone to Santa Barbara, California. It was here that Audree was born. Soon, generational careers with the Standard Oil Company of California would hold a lifelong influence with her. Audree’s father began his life with the Company. He transferred to Bakersfield, California. While in school Audree met and fell in love with Jack Gordon, whose father was a fellow Standard Oiler. When Jack joined the ‘company’, Audree’s life with the corporation began. She had two children in Bakersfield before joining Jack in company transfers throughout the West. Along the way, Audree and Jack had five more children. For Audree, parenting was a full load. School athletics, academics, feeding an army were all a part of Audree’s daily routine. At last Jack and Audree’s 35 years of corporate life were rewarded with a new life as retirees. They embraced their passion for saltwater boating by extensive cruising in British Columbia, a circumnavigation of Vancouver Island and the Puget Sound and San Juan Islands. Audree and Jack were avid participants in the San Juan Island Yacht Club and members of the Seattle Yacht Club and Roche Harbor Yacht Club during this time. Audree was remembered for keeping their vessel, the “Sunny Sue” in Bristol condition. Ardent sports enthusiasts, Jack and Audree were often in Seattle rooting on their beloved Huskies/Seahawks in their season ticket seats. Corporate moving about and numerous residences in the West gave Audree a wonderful feel for travel. Audree and Jack loved their condominium in Las Vegas and, later, San Diego. Audree never missed an opportunity to grab her two daughters, Sally and Suzanne, for a day of shopping and restaurant delights. Later, Audree and Jack relocated to Arizona. Audree’s cooking skills were always a highlight in social gatherings where her Mexican and southwestern dishes disappeared quickly. A yearning to be among family brought Audree and Jack ‘back’ to Spokane, a place of many fond memories. She has been rewarded living her final years here in the Inland Northwest and its surrounds. Audree Allen Gordon will always be in the hearts of those at her side: Jack Gordon, her life’s love and husband of 65 quick years. Her seven children and their loved ones: John & Kathie Gordon, Spokane , Sally & Joe Smith, Priest River, ID, Todd & Cathy Gordon, Kettle Falls, WA, Scott Gordon, Spokane, Jim & Lynda Gordon, North Bend , WA, Rick & Debbie Gordon, Snohomish, WA & Suzanne & Tony McBride, Portland, OR, numerous grandkids, great grandkids and other extended family and friends. Audree’s sister, Connie lives well in Bakersfield. The memorial and celebration of Audree’s love of life will be held at her home at Glenngrae in Spokane on Saturday afternoon. The family requests donations be made to Hospice House, 367 East 7th Ave, Spokane, Wa. 99210.
