Neil W. Maxwell (age 80) Our beloved husband, devoted father and faithful friend sadly left us on January 28, 2012. Neil was born December 25, 1931 in Spokane, WA. He grew-up and graduated high school in Waitsburg, WA. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and married his childhood sweetheart, Betty (Pollard) Maxwell. Upon completion of four years of faithful service to his country, Neil moved to Ralston, WA where he fulfilled his dream of becoming a farmer—a passion he enjoyed for over 15 years. When a wonderful opportunity to serve his fellow farmers presented itself, Neil jumped at the opportunity and began a second career with Federal Crop Insurance. He spent 16 years working in Montana and ultimately returned home to Spokane where he was promoted to Assistant Regional Director, a position he maintained until his retirement in 1994. A 50+ year Mason, Neil was a Past Master of Ritzville Lodge #101. A member of the Scottish Rite Bodies, he was also a member of El Katif Shriners. Happiness for Neil was one of life’s simplest pleasures—spending time with his family that he loved so much. He is survived by his adoring wife Betty of Spokane, with whom he shared nearly 62 beautiful years of marriage. Three daughters, Ms. Sheri S. Crosier and Greg Wheeldon of Spokane; Mrs. Teri A. Pietz and Greg Pietz of Boise, ID; and Mrs. Marlo M. Pratt and Michael Pratt of Portsmouth, RI; four grandchildren and 4 great-grand children. We send special thanks to the staff of North Central Care Center for their wonderful care. Donations may be made in Neil’s name to the Shriners Hospital, P.O. Box 2472, Spokane, WA 99210 or donor’s choice.
