The Life of Virginia Armour Virginia E. Armour entered into the kingdom of grace and glory on January 31, 2012. She was born in May of 1919 to Samuel S. Evans and Ida Egbert Evans, the 3rd of five children. She was the last of her siblings to reach her journey’s end. Many say it is most likely because her event calendar was always booked well in advance with activities, trips and people to socialize with. She was simply too busy to leave earlier. She graduated from Preston High School, and, coming from this small community in Idaho, she learned the significance of family values and hard work. As a farming community, people were expected to reap the harvest and provide for all community members. Virginia worked for the FHA for many years in different cities, including Seattle where she met Robert Armour. They were married for 43 years and had one daughter, Cindy. Robert was of Scottish descent, yet it was she who was the thrifty one (frugal, but with discriminating taste). In spite of that, their home was always open to everyone. Her giving nature made her someone you would want to be around. She still holds the Book of World Records for lodging and feeding the most people during the 1962 World’s Fair. She enjoyed travel, entertaining and parties, of which she hosted many. Virginia lived in Seattle for most of her adult life before moving to Spokane, enabling her to spend more time with her beloved son-in-law, Bob, and her daughter. She was an avid storyteller, bridge player, animal lover, and sports nut: particularly Pro football and the Zags. Her spirit lives on: a celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2012, at Sunshine Gardens, 10410 East 9th Avenue, Spokane Valley, WA. Friends are invited to come; her friends and family will be sharing stories. The party will start at 10:30 am conclude at 2:30 pm. Come and spend a few moments as you can. In lieu of flowers, she would ask that if you would like to give something, please send a donation to the Virginia Armour memorial fund at the local animal shelter: SCRAPS, 2521 N. Flora Road, Spokane Valley, WA, 99216.
