Richard "Dick" McTighe

Richard (Dick) McTighe died in Spokane, Washington on April 19, 2012, at age 86. Born July 8, 1925, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Dick lived most of his life in Spokane. Survived by his wife, Marilyn, son and daughter-in-law Beau and Connie McTighe, daughter and son-in-law Diane and Steve Kunz, daughter and son-in-law Susan and Michael Andrews, daughter Mary Jo McTighe, grandson Marc McTighe and wife Jode, grandson Jerry Wasson, grandson Jim Wasson and wife Shannon, great-grandson Mathew, nephews Mick McTighe, Jeff McTighe, Ted McTighe, and Tim McTighe, niece Kathleen Anderson, nephew Paul Stearns, nieces Marcia Stearns and Gigi Brady, and numerous grand-nephews and nieces. Dick served in the Navy during World War II. Good father, bartender extraordinaire at Ray Knott’s Restaurant in the 1950s, executive at United Way (then United Crusade) in the 1960s, owner of McTy’s Coins in the 1970s. He had an encyclopedic knowledge of collectible coins, and his interest diminished only after he became blind toward the end of his life. In his later years, Dick had a great friend in Chris Crisler, now owner of Christopher’s Coins in Oneonta, New York. Chris traveled cross country on many occasions to spend time with Dick, and was with him in his last days. Our family expresses gratitude to the caring staff at Rockwood at Hawthorne. A memorial service will be held at 3 PM on Saturday, May 12, 2012, at Rockwood at Hawthorne, 101 E. Hawthorne Road, Spokane, 99218. To honor his memory, donations may be made to Hawthorne’s Employee Assistance Fund. Good-bye Daddy, we will miss you.
