Jeannette "Jean" Selbo

Jeannette Evelyn (Jean) Selbo, loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend, went to her Heavenly Father on May 5, 2012. Jean was born May 29, 1919 in Hannaford, ND to George and Veda Mills. She grew up on a farm near there with her two older sisters, Lucille and Florence, and her younger brother John (Jack). She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Jack and sister Lucille, and her husband, Conrad Martin Selbo. She graduated from Hannaford High School in 1936, and then attended Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Valley City, ND. While attending there, she met her future husband, Conrad Selbo. They were married on Christmas Day, 1942. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Spokane. Jean found work in nursing, and later got an education degree from Whitworth College. She spent most of her career as an instructor of nursing for Spokane Community College. She and Conrad had two children, Julie Selbo of Walla Walla, and Jerry Selbo of Salt Lake City, UT. After retiring she took up painting, and was a member of the Deer Park Artists Association for a number of years. She has been a member of Lidgerwood Presbyterian Church for 60 years. She is survived by her daughter Julie, son Jerry and his wife Cindie, step-grandson Nick Whittinghill and his son Nicholas, her sister Florence, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitiation will be on Tuesday, May 8 from 2:00PM - 5:00PM at RIPLINGER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY 4305 N. Division Spokane, WA. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, May 9 at 12 noon at Lidgerwood Presbyterian Church, 4449 N Nevada in Spokane. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts be made to the church.
