Friedel Baumann (Frieda, Oma) Age 91 The beacon of light that was Oma is now dark, our momma passed peacefully on June 9th 2012. Oma and Opa are once again together…this time for all eternity. Originally from Bremen, Germany Frieda was a long time resident of Spokane (55 years plus). Wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend…Frieda’s strength and German tenacity forged through many difficult and challenging odds and situations. Including but not limited to losing everything twice during World War II, coming alone to a new country, learning English in Texas (which comically resulted in quite an unusual accent), and becoming an Air Force wife with its many moves and duties (this during a time without the internet, texting, and immediate phone calls), momma always persevered. Mom studied and worked very hard to obtain her American citizenship, something she was so very proud of and eager to remind others of how much she loved her chosen country…The United States of America! This gifted artist and vocalist is preceded in death by her lifelong friend and beloved husband Clifford (Opa) and sisters, Hanna and Marga. She is survived by her daughter Marga Snipes and her husband Roger Snipes; son Michael Baumann; daughter-in-law Tami, grandchildren Matthew and Hannah Baumann; sister, Gertrude; and her extended family and friends, all she loved very much. The family greatly appreciated and wants to acknowledge Stacey and Miranda Toth; Shelley, Shannon and Toni Kyle; and Joanna Baughn whose loving care at Twilight Manor will forever be remembered. The birds were singing this morning, their songs floating on the wind clear and loud…momma your voice sang with them and reminded me of your many lessons…”Always be good to one another”, “remember the past good and bad for it will be your foundation to live and grow on”, “always share with others”, “be honest and trustworthy”, “from the hands that give nothing, comes nothing…always give freely without a thought for thanks or reward”, “love each other no matter what”, and “never dishonor God, family or your Country”! We love you momma and will never forget you or the lessons taught.
