Gerald D. Havens At the age of 67, surrounded by those who loved him deeply, and after a battle with cancer, Jerry walked with Jesus into the light on October 19, 2012 to join his first son, Gerald D. Havens Jr. He was born in Spokane, Washington, on Christmas day 1944, to parents Donald and Pearl Havens. Jerry graduated from West Valley High School where he met the love of his life Carolyn. They married and spent 48 years together. Jerry attended Eastern Washington University, served in the U.S. Army and after 40 years, retired from the Union Pacific Railroad. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Eagles Club and enjoyed playing the stock market. His real retirement joy started after purchasing his 1935 Ford Hot Rod and joining the Duke’s Auto Club. He served as Treasurer for the club and attended as many functions as possible, including his last one on October 2nd 2012. Jerry is survived by; his loving wife and best friend, Carolyn, his son Gerald W. Havens and wife Nora, his daughter Michelle R. Olmstead and husband Jason, four grandchildren; Gerald W. Havens Jr., Jennifer Havens, Victoria Olmstead, Venissa Olmstead and numerous family and friends. Viewing for friends and family will be at Riplinger Funeral Home, 4305 North Division on Monday, October 22nd from 12 to 8 pm and on Tuesday from 9 am to 8 pm. The immediate family will be remembering Jerry in a private service.
