Nathaniel B. Ward

February 17, 1929 — January 2, 2013

Nathaniel Barnaby Ward was a man of deep compassion, intelligence and humor. Born on February 17, 1929 in Vancouver, BC Canada, Nat was a good father to 14 children, and beloved by all of his grand and great grandchildren. As a child, Nat was orphaned at the age of two, and had a difficult life during his early years. His compassion for others is a result of the experiences he faced. As he grew up he was chosen to be an alter boy, and served proudly in the Canadian Merchant Marines. He married his first sweetheart, Geradine Marie McIntyre. Together, they had 12 beautiful children. As years past, Geradine, born on Dec 12, 1933 in Glace Bay Nova Scotia, Canada, went to heaven on September 18, 1981, after a long battle with cancer. Nat became a meticulous painter, an exceptional mechanic, and he loved music. He had a passion reading, learning, Formula 1 racing, and cooking. He loved all animals and nature itself. Later Nat met his lifelong partner, Celia Guadalupe Ortega. He and Celita loved each other very much, and they had two children together. They had a happy life until Celia succumbed to cancer on March 21, 2010. Nathaniel is survived by his children; Lena, Stella, Nat, Cal, Geri, Holly, Terry, Sarah, Aaron, Phillip & Carla. He has joined the others who have since passed and meant so much to him, including his sons, Jim, Luke, and Allen, and the women he married; Geradine & Celia. We can truly say that he worked exceptionally hard througout his life, and shared what little he had with everyone he met. Our "Daddy", Nathaniel Barnaby Ward, was 83 when he left this world on January 2, 2013. He was a good man who was loved by everyone he knew; he was a man to emulate. With broken hearts we will remember him always, and will see him at heaven's gate.
