Jonathon R. Cox (35) was born on Sept. 30, 1977 in Kalispell, Mont. and entered into rest on Feb. 14 in Cottage Grove, Minnesota. Jon grew up in Spokane and graduated from John Rogers High School in 1995. Jon served in the Air Force for 10 years and served his country in Kuwait, Iraq and Afghanistan. He was currently employed by the Federal Aviation Administration as an air traffic controller at Minneapolis International Airport. Jon loved his kids and acting like a big kid. His toys included cars and motorcycles. He loved music, baseball and was a life-long Seattle Mariners and Minnesota Vikings fan. He is survived by his wife, Laura; and his sons, Ryan, Aaron and daughter,Cameron; and step children, Luis and Natalia. He is also survived by his parents, Hal and Laurie Cox and sister, Samantha Skinner, and many aunts, uncles and cousins; his chosen brother, Lloyd Gaines; and many friends who were near and dear to him. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alan and Dorothy Cox and grandparents, Jack Nogosek and Sharon Poor. A service will be conducted in Cottage Grove, Minn. on Tuesday, Feb. 19 at noon at Our Lady of Guadalupe. And, local "Celebration of Life" with military honors will take place on Saturday, February 23 at 2 p.m. at Riplinger Funeral Home & Crematory 4305 N. Division Spokane, WA. Graveside to follow at Holy Cross cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to Spokane Youth Sport Association.
