Vera Marie Licht

April 17, 1920 — March 29, 2013

Born on April 17, 1920 in Otis, Colorado, the second child of Ray and Dorothy Pease. Her family moved to the Spokane area, settling in Valley Prairie, where she attended schools and graduated from Mead High School in 1938. Those years gave Vera lifelong lasting friendships. She worked as a clerk for Woolworth’s, J.C. Penney, and the Bon Marche. She was proud to join Amistad, a friendship and philanthropic club that was active for over 65 years. Vera was a ‘Demonstrator’ for Kraft Cheese Co., where she met and later married, Lloyd Cunningham. In her own words, “This union gave me a caring, loving Step-Daughter, Pat. And, in turn two very talented granddaughters, a great-grandson and a great-granddaughter, all who live in the U.K.” She married Al Licht, in 1971, and together they shared love and their gardening skills. They planted raised beds, a modified Japanese garden, rock trails, and tended his & her beds. Vera was preceded in death by her husbands, Lloyd and Albert; her brothers, Micky and Earle; and her sister, Betty Lou. Vera also left the following message. “Thanks to the best neighbors ever, Tim and Diania Bieber, who took over yard work and gardening. I was able to stay in my home. I also appreciated, neighbor, Mary Hickman and special friends, Ed and Gina Berti, who contributed much help and made life easier. Additionally, my nieces, that were loving, caring, and prayful with surprises, made life worthwhile. This goes for nephew Andy and Leslie, also. The family get togethers helped me keep track of great nieces and nephews. Farewell and Much Love, Vera.” A memorial service honoring Vera will be held on Saturday, April 6th, 2013 at 2:00 PM at RIPLINGER FUNERAL HOME, 4305 N DIVISION, SPOKANE, WA. Donations may be made to Hospice or to a charity of choice.
