LALKA, Lois M. (Age 84) – Born April 20, 1929 in Opheim, MT; entered into rest June 20, 2013 in Spokane, WA. A Spokane area resident for 81 years. Lois is survived by two daughters; Judith Hayes of Mead, WA and Janice Myrvang-Burgeson of Spokane; three brothers, Bill Stearns of Chehalis, WA, Chuck Stearns of Yakima, WA and Jim Stearns of Vancouver, WA; 11 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Paul Lalka in 2010; a daughter, Jennifer Myrvang of Priest River, ID; a son, John Myrvang of Reno, NV; a sister, Virginia Brown of Priest River, ID ; and a brother, Ronald Stearns of Sprague, WA. Lois graduated from Priest River Lamana High School in 1947, and later graduated from North Idaho Jr. College in 1963. She worked as a secretary for the Federal Government in the Soil Conservation Service until retiring in 1993. Lois was a member of the Retired Federal Women’s Employees and a Life member of the VFW (District President). Her hobbies included sewing, making wedding dresses for four granddaughters along with several prom dresses, quilts and clothing. She also loved to travel, visited Asia, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Scandinavian countries as well as the U.S. coast to coast. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 28, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Hillyard Baptist Church, 2121 E. Wabash, Spokane, WA. Pastor Ron Ulmer, officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Horizon Hospice, 123 W.
