Barbara Faye Newman

Barbara Faye Newman (age 72) entered into rest on October 20, 2013. Barbara was born in Pierre, SD on May 16, 1941 to parents Frank and Alice Eldridge. She graduated from Pierre High School in 1959. In 1962, Barbara married her loving husband Robert and together spent 31 years together before his passing in 1993. As a 50 year resident of Spokane, Barbara worked as manager and treasurer of the Iron Workers Credit Union, and for the past 16 years, she has been a greeter at Costco. Barbara enjoyed her job very much and will be missed by many. She also loved working in her yard planting her beautiful flowers. Barbara is survived by her loving daughter, Kandi Thorson; grandsons, Rob Thorson, and Andy (Denise) Thorson; granddaughters, Kally (Brett) Johnson, and Danyel (Adam) Hoogheem; two great granddaughters, Haylie Jackson and Emmy Johnson all of Spokane; sisters, Bette Jo Willingham of Pierre, SD and Bootz Hill of Fort Pierre, SD. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert, and three brother-in-laws. Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 23 from 9:00am – 8:00pm at RIPLINGER FUNERAL HOME 4306 N DIVISION, SPOKANE, WA. A Celebration of Life will begin at 1:00PM on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at Riplinger’s followed by interment at Fairmount Memorial Park. A memorial fund has been setup in Barbara’s name and donations may be made at any branch of the Spokane Teachers Credit Union.
