BUCHHORN, Vivienne D. (Age 93) On May 10, 1920, Vivienne was born on a ranch in the farmlands of the Palouse. She arrived, the fourth child of eight, to the clan of William and Frankie Armstrong. Vi was preceeded in death by four brothers, three sisters, and her husband, Paul Buchhorn. Married at 20, Vivienne is succeeded by Kathy Howell, Colleen Baker, Judy and Gary Long, Diana and Bill Swope, Ralph and Kristi King, 15 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren. Vivienne leaves behind a large family strengthened by their memories of her loving, supportive ways. She lived life fully--as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother. An accomplished entrepreneur, she became a beautician who owned her own salon, owned and operated a retail clothing outlet, became a successful real estate agent for a local brokerage, and pioneered the J. C. Penney Corporation's fledgling interior design department. Her perseverance and creativity propelled her into becoming one of their 10 top sales persons of the nation. Her motivation and ambition eventually compelled her to establish her own successful interior decorating business. Sharing her husband's love of the El Katif Shrine, for many years she helped organize and promote the functions of the Palomino Patrol. Vivienne possessed a unique ability to profoundly inspire the lives of everyone she met. Her inspiration and love will survive long after her passing. Funeral service for Vivienne will begin at 2:00PM on Saturday, March 29, 2014 in the Pines Cemetery Mausoleum in the Spokane Valley.
