Ronald G. Black

Loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away July 14, 2014 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Ron was born in Orofino, Idaho to James Henry Black and Lucille Ester Black on May 6th 1935. Ron lived in Orofino until he was two. They relocated to Seattle where his dad worked in the shipyards. In second grade he moved to the Green Bluff area where he attended 2nd to 5th grade. They moved to Moscow, Idaho when he was 12. At twelve, he started his first job doing a paper route. In Seventh grade he moved to Bovill, Idaho where he attended 7th – 9th grade. His family then moved back to Green Bluff where he finished high school. In 1955, he married Barbara Hackman; they were married for 58 years. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Black, Sister, Susan Lattin, daughters: Janet Broughton (Roger), Patricia Black, Nancy Black (Jerry) and one son Gene Black; 10 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Connie, sister Carol and daughter-in-law Brandy. Ron enjoyed being a Spokane City firefighter for 39 years. He also had his own construction business, building several houses for himself as well as his daughters. Ron enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Services will be held Saturday, July 19th at eleven o’clock at Foothills Community Church, 11102 N. Forker Road, Spokane, WA 99217. Lunch reception to follow at the church.
