Joanne Rosenthal

ROSENTHAL, Joanne (Rossi) (Age 80) – Entered into rest on September 25, 2014 in Spokane, WA. Joanne was born in Spokane to Mary and Tony Rossi on August 4, 1934. She attended St. Aloysius Elementary School and Rogers High School. In 1951, Joanne married Iredelle Rosenthal and together raised three daughters. She worked in the nursery at Holy Family Hospital in Spokane for seven years before moving to Missoula, MT in 1967. In Missoula, over the course of six years Joanne worked in the bakery department for Albertsons Store, and became the head sales girl. In 1973, she along with her husband moved back to Spokane to be close to their parents. Joanne then worked at Quiki Box as an assistant foreman for 15 years. After Quiki Box closed their doors, she began working at Hunt wood Industries as office bookkeeper. She put in seven years with Hunt wood before retiring in 1996. Joanne enjoyed needle work, decorating, baking and cooking for the holidays. She loved traveling with her husband, in their motor home taking frequent trips to visit family, friends and grandchildren. Some of her best memories came from camping with family and friends on the Columbia River. Joanne is survived by her husband of 62 years, Iredelle; brother, Tony Rossi, Jr.; three daughters, Teresa Creek, Carol Carr and Tammie King all of Spokane; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and two great-great grandsons. Preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Tony Rossi; and by her sister, Helen Madison. She enjoyed and loved all her sisters-in-law, Nancy Rosenthal, Helene Rosenthal, Hazel Ankley and Joyce Rossi. Each one of them had a special place in her heart. Our family wants to thank the staff at Holy Family Hospital and Hospice of Spokane (Hospice House North) for all their loving care they gave mother in her last hours. Visitation will be held on Monday from 12 Noon to 5:00 pm and Tuesday from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm at Riplinger Funeral Home. A Rosary will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at 7:00 pm at RIPLINGER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 4305 N. DIVISION, SPOKANE, WA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at 11:00 am at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 330 E. Boone Ave., Spokane, followed by a reception in O’Malley Hall. Entombment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joanne’s name to Hospice of Spokane, PO Box 2215, Spokane, WA 99210.
