Cheryl Mae Corkrum

July 19, 1945 — February 12, 2015

CHERYL MAE CORKRUM Cheryl was born on July 19th, 1945 (right in the middle of harvest) to Paul and Doris Douglas from Almira, WA. She entered the gates of Heaven on February 12, 2015 in Spokane. She loved the animals and the fields. Cheryl graduated from Almira Grade and Almira High School. She went on to Washington State University, graduating in the class of 1967. Cheryl’s first job out of college was with the Job Corps in Eugene, OR. She also worked for R.A. Hanson Co. (including work in the Middle East), Instrumental Laboratories, and I.S.C. Systems. Cheryl married Robert Waggoner in 1970. They later divorced. She married Ron Corkrum on Jan. 16, 1982. Cheryl loved the Lord, and she loved spending time at her “other home” Turning Point Open Bible Church. It was there, she enjoyed Bible studies, working with the children’s programs, and the other activities. She was also very active in helping with the “Physically Challenged Friends” program. Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Doris Douglas, and by stepdaughter, Shelly Johnson. She is survived by her loving husband, Ron; sisters, Paula Hockstatter (Harold) of Moses Lake, WA, Carol Goodwin of Savannah, GA, and brother, Dick Douglas (Sharon) of Almira, WA; stepdaughters, Teri Murphy of Pendleton, OR, Wendy Corkrum, Lisa Hartin, and Sally Guidi, all of Spokane; and numerous grandchildren. “Our family wishes to extend special thanks to Riplinger Funeral Home and Crematory, Dr. Srivalli Gopaluni (Cancer Care NW), Gentiva Home Health Care, and all of Cheryl’s wonderful friends for their kindness, compassion, and the love given to Cheryl during her illness." Memorial service will be held on Friday, February 27, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Turning Point Church, 11911 N Division, Spokane, WA, with Pastor Monte LeLaCheur officiating. Urn placement to follow at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery.
