DeEstan Follingloe Turner passed away suddenly in his home with his daughter, CynDee Aerts on March 3, 2015. He would have been 89 years old on April 2nd. Dee was born on April 2, 1926 to Agnes Follingloe Turner and Ford DeEstan Turner in Randalia Iowa. He joined his 2 sisters, Eloise and Teddie, and was later joined by brother Howard. He lived and worked on the farm with his father in Randalia from 1937 – 1941, then the family moved to Herron, Illinois where he started working for a neighbor’s farm from 1941 – 1942. He then worked in Woodstock, Illinois on another farm until 1943. He graduated from Woodstock High School in June 1943. Dee turned 18 on April 2, 1944 and by June 1944 he was enlisted in the U.S. Army. He trained for the paratroopers and was a member of the 11th Airborne Unit. He served in the Philippines and in Japan. He was discharged in May 1946 and in September 1946 he enrolled in Morningside College where in 1950 he received the Bachelor of Science Degree. He married Jeannine Ardyce Nelson May 27, 1948. They moved to Dubuque, Iowa in June 1951. Dee worked for the Standard Oil Company from 1950 – 1954. In Dubuque, he began working for Investor’s Diversified Services from 1955 – 1963. He then worked briefly for the Tom McCall & Associates Placement Agency in Chicago before moving the family to California in August 1963. In September 1963 he began working as a suggestions analyst for NASA’s Space and Information Systems Division. He was in a major car accident on December 5, 1963, which left him without the discs between his 4th and 5th cervical vertebrae. He was in constant pain in his neck for the rest of his life. In March 1965 he completed the requirements for the California School of Insurance. For the rest of his life he worked in the insurance industry. It was his passion. He still had 2 long-term clients in his own brokerage business in 2011 when he moved to WA to live with CynDee and Neil. He says they would have stayed with him forever had it not been for Obamacare! Dee was preceded in death by his father Ford, his mother Agnes, his sister Eloise, and his brother Howard. He is survived by his loving sister Teddie of Lake Geneva, WI; his daughter CynDee (Neil) Aerts of Spokane, WA; daughter Eloise (Keith) Hartsuiker of Sacramento, CA; son Doug (Karen) Turner of Spokane, WA; grandchildren Tiffani (Scott); Trevor; Travis; Adam; Amanda; DeEstan, and great-granddaughters Ellie Rae and Anna-Gail Hartsuiker. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews Rick & Lynn Lottig, WI; Kathy Houck, WI; Jan Howick, WI; Dana Lottig; Jim (Indira) Lottig, WI; Eric (Sheila) Welch, IL; Laurie Turner and son Sean, IL. Dee will be remembered for his passion for conservative ideas and his quick wit and great sense of humor. He loved his family mightily and considered his children to be his greatest accomplishment. The family suggests that remembrances and memorials be sent to: Inland Northwest Honor Flight: www.inwhonorflight.org A celebration of Dee’s life will be held at Northview Bible Church 13521 Mill Road Spokane, WA 99208 at 4:00 p.m on Friday, May 22, 2015, followed by a time of sharing and a light supper. Dee will be interred at the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Medical Lake.
