Monty Platz was born on July 21, 1950 and passed away on June 2, 2015. He is survived by his wife Gayle, his son Ryan, his daughter Cara, his grandchildren Kate & Knox, his brother Dennis and his 94-year-old father Darwan. Monty served in the Coast Guard for over 17 years, taking his family with him to California, Puerto Rico and Texas, all the while being a badass bass guitarist (a.k.a. Mr. Fingers) and playing with his bands in half a dozen states and three countries. After this journey, he returned to his home of the Pacific Northwest in 1996. He loved to make people laugh, work on his countless inventions, help loved ones in need, play music with his friends and discover the truth about life and beyond. It was always an adventure being with Monty, as his jokes came out of nowhere, his ideas were always intriguing (and interesting) and his personality made everyone feel so welcome. He always just wanted to be a "Regular Guy", but to those who knew him, his kind heart made him so much more than that. He was loved more than he could ever know. Wish it, Dream it, Do it. Be free. Visitation will be on Saturday, June 6, 2015 from 9:00AM - 4:00PM at RIPLINGER FUNERAL HOME 4305 N DIVISION SPOKANE, WA 99207. Funeral service will be held on Monday, June 8th at 10:00am at Riplinger Funeral Home. An informal celebration of his life, where the times & tales of Monty will be remembered & encouraged, will be a potluck at St. Francis of Assisi (Parish Hall) at 2:00pm.
