Loris S Creel

Creel, Loris S. (age 94) On June 6, 2015 this wonderful woman joined her husband of 62 years in heaven. “They are now dancing, like no one is watching.” Loris was born on September 3, 1920 in Heron Lake, Minnesota to William and Ruth Newcomer. She had four sisters and three brothers, with whom she was close with all her life. Loris graduated from Heron Lake High School in 1938 with a class of 24 students. She moved to Spokane and married the love of her life, Robert Creel in 1947. They had six children, Barbara Seabolt (Stoney) of Tulsa, OK, Richard Hedquist (Bonnie) of Spokane, Janet LaFara (John) of Edinburg, TX, Cheryl Sontag of Spokane, Garry Creel (Debbie) of Spokane, and Tara Ostlind (Lonn) of Spokane. She was also Grandma Creel to 19 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren, and 36 great-great grandchildren. Loris worked and retired from Spokane School District 81. Known as the “best cook” at school, the kids all called her “Mom” or “The Lunch Lady!” Besides family, her garden and yard were her passion. Loris was as pretty as her pansies, and as sweet as her raspberries. After leaving Dalke Street, she resided at Lilac Plaza for 10 years before moving to Windriver for a year. Special thanks to Hospice of Spokane for the wonderful care of our whole family. As much as she loved flowers, in lieu of flowers, Loris asked that donations be made in her name to Hospice of Spokane. A “Celebration of Life” will begin at 4:00PM on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at RIPLINGER FUNERAL HOME 4305 N DIVISION in Spokane.
