HUTCHINGS, John W. - Passed away July 7th 2015 peacefully from natural causes at home in West Spokane. John was born in Clearfield, Utah to John and Marian Hutchings. The family resided in Walnut Creek CA, where he attended Pleasant Hill High School and excelled in sports. In 1965 John enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he was sent to Vietnam. It was there that John was wounded in combat. John returned to the US and was honorably discharged in August 1967. Receiving the Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal. John Retired in 2010 and moved back to Spokane to be closer to his children and grandchildren and loved being with them and around them all. In Moving back he met up with fellow Marines in the Spokane area. He enjoyed activities, weekly meetings and lunches with the boys Bill, Jim, Dave, Vance and any other Marine or serviceman he came across. You all made him get up in the morning and go to sleep at night with a smile on his face. "Semper Fi" John is preceded in death by parents John and Marian Hutchins, Grandson Heath "Willie" Hutchings Jr. and brother-in-law Rolly Dionio. Survived by sister Susan Dionio Nephew Benjamin Dionio (wife Janet) Son Heath Hutchings (wife Rhonda) Son Chad Hutchings (wife Marni). Daughter Paisha Schleufer. Grandchildren Tyler Lauzon, Shaina, Lindsie, Kaden and Melanie Hutchings. Lexee and Kelsee Hutchings. Gage and Kailie Lopez. As well as nieces, nephews, great grandsons, great granddaughters. Memorial Services will be held at Washington State Veterans Cemetery Thursday July, 16, 2015 at 9am, located at 21702 W. Espanola Rd. Medical Lake, WA. 99022, Followed by a gathering at VFW Post 1435, 212 S. David St. Spokane Valley, WA 99212.
