Edward L. Barton, Jr., 84, of Uniontown, WA, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, August 29, 2015, at Avalon Care Center in Pullman, WA. Ed was surrounded by his loving wife JoAnne, his daughter Cathy and granddaughter Tara. Ed was born in Moscow, ID on April 14, 1931, to Edward L. and Ethel A. Barton. They moved to Pullman, WA and then to Spokane, WA, where Mr. Barton attended and graduated from Lewis and Clark High School. After graduating high school, Ed enlisted in the Air National Guard and was stationed in Juneau, Alaska and Great Falls, MT. After serving in the military, Ed returned to Spokane and entered his apprenticeship program with Local 44 Steamfitters and Pipefitters and after graduating at the top of his class went to work for Standard Plumbing and Heating. From there, he went to Arnold and Jeffers, Honeywell and Divco, before opening his own service control company, J&E Controls, in 1983 which he owned for over 20 years in Spokane. He completed his career with 10 years at Washington State University in their Physical Plant. He spent the last 25 years in Uniontown, WA. Ed was a member of Country Homes Christian Church in Spokane, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Sr. And Ethel A. Barton, sister Helen Herrington and brother-in-law LeRoy Herrington, one infant brother and one infant sister who died at birth, sister-in-law Sara Lara and brother-in-law Pete Lara, brother-in-law Fred Driggers, sister-in-law June Driggers, and brother-in-law William Driggers. He is survived by his wife, JoAnne Barton (Driggers), a daughter, Cathy Bronson (Doug) from Denton, TX; a son, Alan Barton, Spokane Valley, WA; granddaughters Tara Bronson Nass (Sean) Yakima, WA; Alicia Kvasnicka (Brian) Spokane Valley, WA; grandsons Brandon Barton (Molly) Spokane Valley; Aaron Bronson (Shannon) Moscow, ID; great-granddaughter Mckayla Kvasnicka, Spokane Valley, WA; daughter-in-law Belinda Barton, Spokane Valley, WA; nephew Robert Herrington, Ocean Shores, WA; and several more nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Ed was a member of Audubon Park Masonic Lodge and served as Worshipful Master. He was proud to have recently received his 65 year pin. He was also a member of Mystic Tie Lodge in Colton, WA and served as Worshipful Master before merging with Whitman Lodge in Pullman. He was a member of El Katif Shrine, past Wise Master of Rose Croix, a member of the Royal Order of Scotland. Most Worshipful Brother Ed served as a District Deputy. He was honored to have be called a Past Associate Guardian of Jobs Daughters, and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. He was especially proud to have served that order as Worthy Patron with his daughter Cathy as Worthy Matron. The family would like to thank their special neighbors Debbie and Monte Brotnov and Diana and Bob Matson for all of their love and support in helping Mom take care of Dad over the past year. She would have never been able to keep him at home without them being there at a moments notice. We would also like to thank everyone at the Avalon Care Center in Pullman, WA for their compassion and excellent care during dad's last days. We would especially like to thank Mandy, Kate and Tamara. Tamara was with us in the final hours and made our time with dad so comforting. At the family's request, there will be no funeral service. Mr. Barton was cremated and a celebration of his life will be planned at a later date.
