O. Aleta Pollin

March 14, 1910 — May 1, 2009

Pollin, O. Aleta (age 99) long time Spokane resident entered into rest on May 1, 2009. She was born in Cle Elum, Washington. Mrs. Pollin grew up on Pullman, Colville, and Ellensburg, WA. She attended Ellensburg Normal School (now known as Central Washington) and received her bachelor’s degree in teaching. She taught school until she married William Pollin. Mrs. Pollin was a world traveler, a member and former treasurer of the Northwest Gardening Club, and a member of the Daughters of the Nile. She enjoyed playing the organ, gardening and sewing for the Shriner’s Hospital for Children. Mrs. Pollin and her husband of 72 years, supported many philanthropic organizations and were true humanitarians. She is survived by sister, Miriam Hendrie of Placerville, CA; sister-in-law, Doreen Rothlisberger of Placerville, CA; numerous nieces, nephews, and great- nieces and nephews. Urn placement will be 10:00 AM on Friday, May 15, 2009 at Greenwood Memorial Terrace followed by a Memorial service beginning at 11:30 AM Friday, May 15th at Fowler United Methodist Church 3928 N. Howard in Spokane,WA with Rev. Ralph Tipple officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children PO Box 2472, Spokane, WA 99210-2472. Riplinger Funeral Home entrusted with arrangements. Special thanks to Comfort Keepers for their loving care of Aleta for the past several years.
