Flora "Ruthie" Ruth Schuermer

Passed away peacefully Tuesday May 26, 2009. A lifelong resident of Louisville KY, Ruthie spent her last seven years in Spokane to be close to her youngest son and daughter-in-law. She was cared for the past three years at Alpine Estates Adult Family Home in Deer Park where she was provided compassionate, loving care by Jessica, her family and staff. Our family will be forever grateful to both Alpine Estates and Hospice of Spokane. Ruthie was born in Rock Island Illinois on January 26, 1917, one of six children born to Eunice and Tennyson Scott. She attended Rock Island High School and there she met her husband, Arthur W. Schuermer. After living in Rock Island they moved to Louisville KY in 1949 and made the “Bluegrass” state their home. She was preceded in death by her husband Art in 1994. Ruthie had many sincere and loyal friends. She was well liked by everyone she touched. Her passion was her family, especially her grandchildren Katherine, Timothy and Matthew and great grandson Benjamin. Survivors include her oldest son David and wife Nancy of Madisonville KY; son Eric and wife Karen of Spokane WA; remaining surviving sister, Jean Dillon of East Moline Illinois.
