McELROY, Marion C. “MAC” (age 96) – Entered into rest on June 24, 2016 in Spokane, WA, where he had been a longtime resident. Born in Big Fork, Montana to Harry and Marian (Wood) McElroy, he had been preceded in death by his three siblings, Edith, Klarissa, and Authur. Mac served in the US Navy during WWII. He was often heard to tell of himself as a Dryland Sailor, for he was reassigned by the Department of the Navy to serve our country working for the Railroad, ensuring goods and troops were transported. Mac was a proud member of Audubon Park Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Bodies (CDA), EL Katif Shriners (NSSC, Silver Wings), a devoted volunteer at the Shriners Hospital for Children-Spokane for many, many years, a member of the Eagles Aerie #2, and of the Pasco Elk’s Lodge. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rena on September 30, 2015. He is survived by his sons, Marion J. (Connie) McElroy of Spokane, and Gary (Diane) Wells of Lewisville, TX; five grandchildren, Michael and Peter McElroy both of Spokane, as well as, Christopher, Christine, and Michelle Wells all of Texas; by two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Private family service will be held and Mac will rest eternally beside his wife, Rena, at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery, Medical Lake, WA.
