Mary Viola Clinton (age 85) -A kind lady, loving wife, devoted mother, and beloved friend of many, passed away on Sunday July 3rd, 2016. Mary was born in Spokane in 1931 to Gladys and Harry George Cooper. She was later joined with her best friend and little sister Georgia. Her life was filled with many wonderful memories of childhood and special lifelong friendships. The friends she made through her school years have always remained dear to her heart. Mary enjoyed being part of the Pirettes, a drill team at Rogers High School. While attending Rogers, Mary caught the eye of a very handsome older classmate, Ron Clinton. They married soon after Mary graduated in 1950. Ron and Mary had four children and she enjoyed being a homemaker and mother. They moved to a little slice of Heaven called Orchard Prairie in 1958, where she was an active member of the Orchard Prairie Homemakers Club. Mary and Ron square danced with Boots and Slippers. Mary belonged to the Ontario Geneolgy Society and several sub-chapters that led her and Ron on many adventures. Later in life, Mary joined a Barbie Doll club and acquired quite the collection. Mary was a collector and saved everything, but her greatest treasures were her family. Four children, Ron Clinton Jr (deceased) and wife Marguerite, David Clinton and wife Sally, Tamey Walley and husband Tom, Corey Clinton and wife Theresa. Nine grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. On Friday, July 8th, which is Ron and Mary’s 66th wedding anniversary, Mary will be laid to rest in a private burial with family at the Orchard Prairie Union Cemetery. A public service to celebrate her life will follow at Foothills Community Church (11102 N Forker Rd.) at noon led by Pastor Jerry Kennedy. It is with gratitude we thank the compassionate folks at Pine Ridge Alzheimer’s special care center and Horizon Hospice for the angels that brought comfort to Mary in her final days. Gone from my sight, but forever in my heart.
