Our loving and wonderful mother, Mary Ann DeGuire, went peacefully, with an angel on her shoulder, to be with loved ones who passed before her on June 27, 2016. She joined daughters Connie Klaus and Sherry DeGuire, son, John DeGuire and husband, James A. DeGuire and numerous four legged friends. Mary was born May 15, 1930 in Wausau, Wisconsin, and came to Spokane at the age of 18. She fell in love with Spokane and never left. She married James A. DeGuire in November 1948 and together they had 10 children. She is survived by daughters Carol (Jeff) Larson, Jaime (Jim) Thiel, Kathie (Les) McCollim, Jennie Jones and sons, Gregory (Martha) DeGuire, Gary (Shari) DeGuire and Alan (Lori) DeGuire, 21 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Eleanor Koehler and nephew Joel (Susan) Koehler of Merrill, Wisconsin. Mary spent 15 years in many capacities as a member of PTA at Loma Vista Elementary School. She was also a long time member of the Eagles. Because of her outgoing personality, she made many friends and cherished them all. Mary was an avid bowler and was on a bowling league with her friend, Dolores Wilber, for over 50 years. Together they traveled the country going to Bowling Conventions. They also traveled in Europe together. She loved to travel and cruise whenever she could. Mary held down many waitressing positions over her lifetime but a career change at the age of 65 until 82 was her most favorite job, as a School Bus Attendant for disabled children. If she could, she would still be at it! She made many friends in the drivers and helped many of the children from an early age until they graduated. Her children could not have asked for a better mother, she will be remembered always and truly missed. She always let her children know they were the loves of her life and she was blessed, blessed, blessed... Her children would like to thank Hospice of Spokane for their compassionate and loving care. A Celebration of Life is planned for Sunday, August 14, 2016 from 1-3pm, Eagles Lodge, 6410 N. Lidgerwood St., Spokane. Donations can be made in Mary's name to Hospice of Spokane, 102 W. Roades Ave., Spokane, WA 99208 or Pawseverance Rescue, 28921 N. Conklin Rd., Chattaroy, WA 99003.
