Daniel Edward Loftin

Daniel Edward Loftin, 61, was born to Clarence and Mary Loftin in Los Angles, California in 1955. Within a few years of his birth, the family returned to Lake Charles, Louisiana to be near family. Living in Louisiana taught Daniel to be a Southern Gentleman and added a slight accent to his voice, which would make an appearance when he was telling a particularly vivacious story. It was during this time in his life he discovered his love of playing music; at age 15, he began piano lessons. He quickly figured out he was excellent at his craft but further it helped him escape doing chores on the family farm. Daniel grew into a true aficionado of music by the time he entered McNeese State University in Louisiana earning his BA in Fine Arts. With his love of performing and brilliant intellect, Daniel continued his education at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas, receiving his Masters of Fine Arts in Music. After years of working and teaching, Daniel chose again to further his knowledge at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. He was undertaking his PhD in Leadership Studies. His company was a gift with which he blessed people. Daniel counted many people among his friends and acquaintances; from people he saw and spoke with on a regular basis to those he corresponded with by mail, email and social media. Those who knew him, whether in school, by his musical abilities, his charismatic storytelling ability, wicked sense of humor or through his written word would agree he is gone too soon. Daniel had a great love of his dog and companion, Griffin. He would often bring Griffin to practices at Spokane Valley United Methodist Church. Griffin was also his constant companion at most other places Daniel went, especially the drive-through's, where there were treats for Griffin.
