MERRITT, Richard F. "Dick" (age 74) R.F. “Dick” Merritt passed away on November 6th 2016 at his retirement home on Williams Lake with his son and daughter by his side. Dick was born to Max and Eileen Hoffman-Merritt on June 4th, 1942 in Spokane. The family moved to Plaza in 1947 to live on his mother’s family farm. Dick attended Plaza grade school and graduated from Spangle High School in the Class of 1960. After graduation he attended a welding school in Pasco and then worked at Plaza Grange Supply before starting his career in farming. Dick enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing with his friends, spending time at the lake and collecting old tractors. He served on the board of the Rosalia Producers, he was a member of both Rosalia and Waverly Masonic Lodges, Scottish Rite and El Katif Shriners. Dick is survived by his son Darrin Merritt (Dorinda), daughter Danette Merritt (Bill Tensfeld), longtime special friend Joy Paulson, grandchildren Gage, Gensen and Gavin, and beloved dog, Roxy. All reside in Rosalia, Washington. Dick never really retired from farming and always had a large love for the land. His wishes are for memorials to be sent to Rosalia Future Farmers of America. 916 S. Josephine Rosalia, WA 99170. Graveside service will be held on Monday, November 14, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Rosalia IOOF Cemetery with Mason Honors. A fellowship at the Harvester in Spangle will follow.
