Bobbie Engle

September 8, 1920 — July 23, 2009

Born Sept 8, 1920 in Odessa, WA, Bobbie was the 8th of 10 sons born to G.E. & Irene Engle of Marlin, WA and went to be with our Lord on July 23, 2009. He grew up on a farm 9 miles NE of Marlin and was educated in the Marlin schools, graduating in 1938. While serving in the Navy, Bobbie married Verdie Laster of Clarksville, Arkansas on February 17, 1945 in Berkely, CA. After being discharged from the Navy, they returned to the farm. In 1947, he went to work as the Manager of Krupp Union Warehouse Company in Marlin. He retired on September 30, 1983 and in March of 1984, they moved to Spokane. Bobbie was a member of the Cannawai Grange #837, and a life member of the Odessa Post #7395 VFW. In addition, he was the past President and Honorary member of the Pacific NW Grain & Feed Association. He was a member of the Marlin Presbyterian Church, and then more recently, the Lidgerwood Presbyterian Church in Spokane. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Verdie; daughter Delores (Frank) of Sun City West, AZ; son Alan (Karren) of Dearborn Heights, MI; son Paul (Madonna) of Marietta, GA, 4 grandchildren, Brian Coumont, Dina McVey (Mark), Robert & David Engle, and great-granddaughter Makenna McVey. Also survived by 1 brother, Don Engle of Sandpoint, ID and numerous neices and nephews. Visitation will be Monday, July 27, 2009 from 4:00PM – 8:00PM at Riplinger Funeral Home 4305 N. Division Spokane, WA. Funeral service will begin at 10:00AM Tuesday, July 28th at Riplinger Funeral Home with interment at Fairmount Memorial Park Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be made to Lidgerwood Presbyterian Church 4449 N. Nevada Spokane, WA 99207.
