Passed away on January 11, 2017 at the age of 98, from natural causes. He had resided at Royal Park Care Center the last 4 ½ years of his life. Cliff was born in Colgan, North Dakota (11-4-1918), and was the last son in a family of five children. He came to Spokane at the age of 15 with his parents as farming in ND had failed because of the drought years. He graduated from West Valley H.S. and went to work at Millwood paper mill, married his first wife, Mida (deceased in 1982) and had 3 children. When Alcoa opened the Mead Aluminum plant, he went to work for them. Kaiser took over the plant and he worked there for 29 years before retiring, spending 11 years working overseas in India, Ghana, Africa, Wales, and Taiwan. Working for the aluminum business during the war years, he was deferred from serving in the armed services. He spent a lot of time fishing and hunting. When he retired, he and Mida traveled throughout the USA, Alaska, and Canada, putting 400,000 miles on their CAYO (airstream aluminum) camper. In 1988, he married a wonderful woman and friend, Maxine (deceased, 2008). They were married for almost 20 years. They traveled and joined a senior club for dancing and card playing. He is survived by his daughter, five grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. A remembrance of his life will be celebrated privately.
